<p>David Cutcliffe made a sharp coaching choice by promptly announcing Sunday that Thad Lewis would be his starter for this week&#8217;s battle with the Kansas Jayhawks.</p>
<p>Although I have only one issue with the way Cutcliffe went about it. It mainly is such a minor thing and I hesitated to even mention it, but felt compelled to do it.</p>

<p>Cutcliffe confirmed Lewis was one of a variety of players who had caught the flu and sat out in practice time.</p>
<p>If you tell me Lewis is a hero, I am okay with that, essentially since I don&#8217;t have a choice and you can care less what my belief is. Although there&#8217;s additionally the fact that you are the head coach/quarterback expert and identify more than I will ever understand regarding that position.</p>
<p>There is no need to tell me Lewis is not 100 percent.</p>
<p>He obviously said he didn&#8217;t want to create a qb debate, but, as the majority of people identify, quarterback controversies 9 times out of ten are started by enthusiasts and news organizations, not coaches.</p>
<p>If a qb debate manifests as a result of Renfree&#8217;s good play and Lewis&#8217; not so nice play then deal with it if the questions come.</p>
<p>While I agree with his choice and swiftness of it he can have opened up a small door for criticism of his starter.</p>
<p>If Lewis doesn&#8217;t play well at Kansas then Cutcliffe will certainly receive questions regarding whether or not Lewis is 100 percent and if he is not, why isn&#8217;t Renfree playing in the game?.</p>
<p>So with respect to the coach&#8217;s sake I hope Lewis steps up and wins or has a nice game, because the last thing Duke needs at present in the wake of the great motivator of besting Army is a controversy.</p>
<p>Just ask Coach K if you are in search of a second opinion. He has had to deal with one or 2 of situations like this one.</p>

<p>One of the fast ways to lose weight is to go on a restricted diet of some sort. One of the more common ones is the low carbohydrate diet where one is allowed to eat all kinds of protein, but the carbohydrate intake is restricted&#8212;-in this way, you are tricking the body, so to speak, to burn fat and you will lose weight quickly. Lots of lean meat and other proteins, but no pasta, flour, wheat, corn, any kind of bread, or potatoes.</p>

<p>Another restricted diet that will promote rapid weight loss is the calorie alternating diet, where the procedure is to eat as you would normally for 2 days, then reduce your caloric intake for 2 days, and then go back to eating normally again for 2 days. Your body functions and burns calories based on collected data, and because of this you can trick it into burning calories at a more rapid rate, and the end result is weight loss. This is another suggestion as one of the fast ways to lose weight.</p>
<p>When you are searching for options and fast ways to lose weight, one of the suggestions that comes up inevitably from someone, is the cabbage soup diet. There are a lot of advocates for this diet, because even though it tends to be on the monotonous side, it will prompt you to lose weight and lose it fast. The backbone of this diet is the cabbage soup, the recipe for which is online in a myriad places on the Internet; and the idea is that you eat as much cabbage soup as you want, as often as you want, day after day after day. The other part of it is that you add something different to your intake every day&#8212;-such as, the first day, just cabbage soup; then the next day cabbage soup and all the steak you want&#8212;nothing else; then next day, cabbage soup and all the fruit you want&#8212;nothing else. And so on.</p>
<p>Another suggestion as one of the many means out there of fast ways to lose weight; is the metabolism boosting diet. In this diet, it is recommended that 6 or more small meals be eaten during the day, rather than three large ones. The theory behind this is that your metabolism will get sped up more and more as small amounts of food are introduced over and over because it is kept running all day at an elevated rate, rather than the up and down revs that are part of just eating 3 big meals. Each meal should be about 200 calories, that way your total intake is about 1200 for the day, you will feel fuller longer, and you will lose weight.</p>
<p>There is another way that works pretty well when you are searching for fast ways to lose weight, and that is the 5-day diet. This diet was originally instituted for heart patients to slim down before they went in for surgery, and the diet works so well, it has been put out for the public to use if desired. It allows for intake of all the essential vitamins and minerals needed to stay healthy, and the calorie intake is no more than 1500 calories/day. A sample meal on this diet is not something you would want to eat long term, but for a short period&#8212;like 5 days&#8212;-it is doable. The intake for a meal would be 1 half grapefruit, black coffee, plain tuna, and bananas. That&#8217;s it, but the weight loss is real.</p>
<p>Putting on weight is a heck of a lot more fun than taking it off, but if you are in the state where you need to drop some pounds, and want to do it quickly; then maybe some of these fast ways to lose weight will help you. None of these are designed to be used long term, but for a kick in the pants startup for a diet program, these diets do the trick to get you started.</p>
